Name: Dean Edwards

D.O.B: 30/07/1970

Bio: Dean Edwards was born and raised in the city of Bristol, where he still resides now with his wife and young daughter. His passion for cooking came from his father who, despite cooking beautiful food, was never a chef but a tradesman by profession.

Dean was encouraged to enter cooking competition MasterChef in 2005 by his friends and family as he was always cooking through his love of food. He managed to make his way all the way to the final of the show, but fell at the final hurdle; leading to thousands of complaints from the general public who all called the BBC’s switchboard.

Post-MasterChef, Dean went on to chef at Michelin-starred Midsummer House in Cambridge, before starting his venture in to television work. He worked on the TV show ‘Take on a Takeaway´ and ‘This Morning’ before becoming the resident chef on ITV morning show ‘Lorraine’.

Something you (probably) didn’t know: Before he entered MasterChef, which propelled his culinary career, Dean used to be a digger driver.

Where can you see him? Dean will be appearing at our Calke Abbey Great Food and Drink Festival in September. The event will run from the 3rd to the 4th and will see Dean appearing on the Sunday (4th) on the same day as John Torode.
