After recently announcing that Nadiya Hussain, current reigning champion of The Great British Bake-Off, will be coming along to The Great Food and Drink Festival at Nottingham Castle, we are delighted to announce another former GBBO champion!
Nancy Birtwhistle, the winner of the 2014 series, will be coming along to the Newstead Abbey Great Food and Drink Festival which takes place on August 27th-29th.
You’ll be able to see Nancy doing her wonderful baking demonstrations on the Monday (29th) of the event and we know that she’ll be fantastic.
In the past we have had Jordan Cox and Chetna Makan who have both been massive hits with the crowds, however this year with two champions we are expecting even more interest in the Great British Bake-Off representatives!
Nancy had this to say about her time on GBBO, “Being a fan of the Great British Bake Off I submitted an application for Series 4 but was unsuccessful. Undeterred, I continued to read and learn and applied again for Series 5 and this time I was successful in being one of the 12 bakers to be given a place in ‘The Tent’ ahead of 16,000 other applicants.
“From the end of April until the end of June the Great British Bake Off was filmed in the grounds of Welford Hall near Newbury. It was the most difficult thing I have ever undertaken in my life, but equally the most enjoyable.”
So make sure you come down to Newstead Abbey Great Food and Drink Festival, where on Monday 29th August you’ll be able to see Nancy in all her glory baking some delicious treats for you all to try and make yourself!
