The Great Food and Drink Festivals are delighted to present to you 'The Big Bake' which will take place at Newstead Abbey for the first time in August 2017 (26th/27th/28th).
There will be a host of well known celebrity bakers taking to our kitchen demonstration theatre, where they will be showing you how to make the perfect cakes and how to avoid that soggy bottom.
For the third year running, we will be attending Newstead Abbey for the Great Food and Drink Festivals, but the first year as a Big Bake Event! Last year was a huge success and we want to make sure that 2017 is just as good, if not better!
We are delighted to have GBBO winner, Candice Brown, appearing on Saturday 26th August, with Rosemary Shrager appearing on the Sunday and Gizzi Erskine on the Monday!
We have up to 100 stalls selling fabulous produce as well as the fine array of high quality artisan crafts
Lots of selection on fine ales and ciders, along with other onsite bars with a wide selection of drinks.
Children's entertainment is provided by the Bongo Bongo team and the fabulous Punch and Judy will be showing daily over the three days
Come try your hand at some of the baking and Master Classes that are running each day.
Saturday 26th August 2017 - Candice Brown.
Candice Brown, current champion of GBBO, will be at Newstead Abbey for the Big Bake in 2017.
Candice will take to the stage on Saturday 26th August, where she will be doing three baking demonstrations.

Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th August - Danielle Gotheridge
Danielle Gotheridge is one of the UK's leading cake designers and author of 'All You Need is Cake'. Starting 13 years ago from her 4 outlets in Nottingham, Danielle is now based in London and spends her time demonstrating her self-taught techniques at the biggest shows and patisserie schools across the world. Danielle recently returned from Australia where she was invited to appear at the famous Cake, Bake and Sweets Show, Melbourne, as the UK guest celebrity Cake Artist. You will also see her appear on stage at Cake International and along side all our Bake Off favourites at the Cake and Bake Shows. Danielle specialisesin creating 'Wow Factor' cakes that take centre stage in any celebration, leading her to create cakes for many celebrities including Justin Bieber. The great thing about Danielle's techniques is that they can all be produced using only the items from your kitchen draw, so you too can make fabulous looking cakes after watching her demonstrations without having to buy a single cake decorating tool or cutter
Sunday 27th August 2017 - Rosemary Shrager.
Rosemary Shrager will be performing three cooking demonstrations throughout the Sunday 27th of The Great Food and Drink Festival 2017.
Rosemary is best known for being an haute cuisine teacher on the reality television programme Ladette to Lady, and as a judge on Soapstar Superchef. She also made an appearance on the reality TV series I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!. Other television projects have included Kitchen Showdown with Rosemary Shrager, where she weaned unhealthy fast-food families onto nutritious cuisine.
Monday 28th August - Gizzi Erskine.
Food writer and chef Gizzi Erskine is one of the most talked about names in food right now. Her hugely popular sell-out live events and pop-up restaurants have established her as a leader in the London scene, and she has collaborated with some of the UK’s most talented chefs including Mark Hix, Angela Hartnett and Tom Kerridge. She has authored many best selling books including the Gourmand Award-winning 'Skinny Weeks and Weekend Feasts', 'Kitchen Magc', 'Cook Yourself Thin’ , and her most recent chart-topper ‘Healthy Appetite’. A regular on TV , her credits include the Channel 4 ratings winner 'Cook Yourself Thin', 'Ones To Watch’ and 'Cookery School’. Her new book, ‘Season's Eatings’, outlining how to make delicious, crowd-pleasing fare whatever the occasion, is due for release in September 2016 via Octopus Publishing Group.
Monday 28th August - Cherish Finden
Cherish Finden is a multi-award winning Pastry Chef. With over 20 years of international experience, Cherish has created innovative and imaginative menus all over the world, including her most recent role as Executive Pastry Chef at The Langham Hotel, London. During her time at the Langham, they earned the prestigious Tea Guild’s ‘Top London Afternoon Tea’ award (2010) and ‘Service of Excellence’ for three consecutive years. Cherish was also awarded ‘Pastry Chef of the Year’ by the Craft Guild of Chefs in 2012 and in 2015 received the Macalcan Life Time Achievement.
